The term shortboard is so generic, that in reality it means nothing. The range and diversity between styles is so dramatic that two boards of similar dimensions will have completely different handling characteristics.

This is a good thing, because no two surfers are the same size, or ride the same way. Some like wide, fast swimming boards that cruise the waves, and some like them narrow and ultra sensitive. One surfer will swear by the performance of a thruster fin set-up, while the next is sold on quads.

Master surfboard shaper, kayaking Olympian and 3-time world champion medalist Corran Addison has over 20 years shaping experience; everything from surfboards, to snowboards, whitewater kayaks and wave ski’s. As a result, his view of the possibilities when it comes to shapes goes way beyond the old “tried and tested” shapes one is accustomed to seeing. His diverse experience lends to really opening new possibilities when it comes to shaping.
